MyDesigner

Each fashion student needs to complete his or her degree by handing in a final thesis project. So did Cedric Flazinski for his Master thesis project for the Design Academy Eindhoven. His product deals with a new design production system. The current design situation evolves around spitting out similar products in great quantities. Yes, personilsation is growing and the market is acting upon this trend of individualisation. But these so called “personalised” products are often not even that unique. It allows consumers to have a say in the final look, colour and or pattern of the product to create a certain identity.

Cedric Flazinski’s project called MyDesigner takes this form of customization to a whole other level. MyDesigner leaves the designer out of the picture which means that the users take the lead. MyDesigner should be seen as a system and not viewed as a product. It can be understood by 3 phases:

01. A visual questionnaire meant to generate a “You-Brand”, were the user can define his / her particularity as an individual (beliefs, wants, moral positions etc…),
02. An interface that will convert the user’s particularities into shape variables which will generate a virtual version of the desired product, and
03. The final product expressing the individuality of the user through a specific use of shape semantics, just like a personal flag.

One on one communications will hence create a a global network. With MyDesigner we will know what is in need where and when. All of us are usefull to somebody else and now digitally we wil be able to convey services and demands in a much faster way. Networks of production will be fastened, which is the main goal of MyDesigner.
