Etsy

Etsy is a great site to find unique handmade items. Whether you’re looking to buy a present for your friend, grandma or just for yourself, Etsy has something for everyone. This site is created for anyone that wants to make a living out of making handmade goods. Buyers and sellers are all connected on this site and we at Blue Blood picked out a few things that we really like.

One maker decided it was time their plum tree needed trimming. The wood was used to create eco green candle holders. We at Blue Blood have always loved wood, this can specially be seen within our stores. Wooden floors are key at Blue Blood.

We also really liked the wooden buttons this maker created.

Another interesting product is created out of a blend of vanilla, cinnamon, orange and the liquor Southern Comfort. This piece of soap is definitely aimed at those tough men out there that enjoy the strong scent of Southern Comfort while using this so called “All Liquored up soap”.

Ellen Lohse graduated from Rhode Island School of Design and then went on to design books. She now sells her fantastic work on Etsy too. We have posted her work on The Darjeeling Limited before if you can remember? This one below is of Grace Kelly and Stewart.

And finally what a hilarious way to start the new year with this great printable calendar from Keep Calm and Carry Spoof 2010.  For only $5,00 you get the pdf sent to your email and you will be able to print this super funny calendar a million times if you like. Why not start January 2010 with a calendar that tell you to make a resolution and then to break it straight away!

Poster pocket planting

Eric Chueng and Sean Martindale are the implementers of the project Poster Pocket Planting. They fill the city streets of Toronto with more green scenery. What they do is they create “pots” in existing poster walls, they then fill these up with soil and place a plant within it. The poster pocket planters hope that this form of creating green wall systems will encourage other activists to start this method in other cities. It has already been picked up in Brooklyn. Due to the cold weather Eric and Sean have stopped planting new plants into poster pockets. Instead they actually saved some greens that they had put out on Harbord to save them from the frost. These little plants have been carefully brought inside. We love what they do and who knows maybe the streets of Berlin, New York and Amsterdam will look much greener soon. Lets hope so.

YESforLOV

Yesterday we were all a little nervous here at bLue Blood. Nervous like you would be before you would have a sexual education class back in your schooldays. Why we felt this way? We had a presentation on a new brand of beauty products in our store. YESforLOV, costmetiques du plaisir. They offer their range of “bedroom products” outside the taboo of sexshops. An easier and more comfortable way to shop for these kinds of naughty but very nice products.

YESforLOV has created an exclusive, sophisticated range of products that are an invitation to lovemaking.

These include unscented wipes, sensuous massage oil, deluxe condoms, lovers’ hide-and-seek kit, moisturising lubricants, soothing balms, love vitamins and more.
All their products are associated with pleasure and the skin, including skincare, protection and intimate games.
Thanks to innovative packaging, candid advice and unparalleled quantity, if you’re looking for a healthy, creative and fulfilling love life, check out: YESforLOV, the experts in sensual well-being.

The line also offers lots of opportunities if you wanna surprise your lover or just wanna buy a cool gift for a good friend. A nice extra, the packaging is designed by the same designers who are responsible for Jean Paul Gaultier perfumes and Moet & Chandon champagne.

Here’s some examples;

Hide & Seek, a fluorescent marker that doesn’t stain the sheets. The writing is invisible until revealed by the indiscreet black light flashlight, which completes the kit. Write secret words or messages on bare skin and use  your skin like the trembling pages of a book.

Titillating massage oil, the light, non-oily texture does not stain clothing or sheets. To enhance relaxation, it is enriched with passion fruit, damiana, rosemary and sweet almond oils, spiced up with a dash of ginger extract for an exciting experience.

Titillating sheet fragrance, splash your sheets and pillows with this scent of love. When the time is right, plunge into its warm and sensual fragrance. And use your tracking skills to follow the trail. Its formula was designed not to stain your sheets, even your most delicate bed linens.

Delicious pearly powder, a beautiful velvet powder puff and pearly scented powder which will give your skin a sensual shimmer and hypnotizing smell.  As delicious to taste as it is to touch. Sprinkle it everywhere you want to attract attention to.

THE Condom, slipped into its precious pouch, the YESforLOV condom is presented like a jewel. It lives up to the most demanding safety and protection standards combined with an ultra-fine design that keeps your most intimate sensations intact. As safe as it is sensual, elegant and practical, this is THE condom. Transparent condom with reservoir tip, made of natural rubber latex and lubricated with polydimethylsiloxane. Average length is 180 mm, average width 53 mm, smooth surface and very thin width for greater pleasure.

We at Blue Blood offer you this tool to spice up your holidays or any other day for that matter. Prices range from 13,- euro’s for set of high class condoms till 129,- euro’s for a luxurious gift box with all kind of fun stuff!

Histoire de Parfum in our Blue Blood stores now!

So we told you before about Histoires de Parfums. You can read all about the brand in our last blogpost.

But because this such a unique product we like to give some more inside info on the different scents which are available in our stores now!

We like to start with 1969 since we love the story behind this particular scent very much.

1969

Top note : Fruits du Soleil, Pêche Veloutée.
Heart note : Rose, Fleurs Blanches, Cardamone, Girofle.
Base note : Patchouli, Chocolat, Café, Muscs Blancs.

The carnal sensuality of a voluptuous bunch of spices . In the trail of this oriental gourmand, mystery is tinted with eroticism, that the mythical year of 1969 evokes without a blush.

1969: In 1969 the world was forever changed it was a year of evolution and revolution. The old world is collapsing. The end of the Stalinism is growing to the east. It is the sexual liberation and the beginning of an enjoyment society. The Nouvelle Vague is revolutioning the cinema with directors such as Truffaut, Godart, Rivette. Claude Chabrol says “to new politic, new cinema”.

In the United States new actors appear like Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, Jack Nicholson…

During the Parisian marches  bannersvsay : “independence politic and erotic for all women”. Women liberate themselves from social and prudish pressure. Some celebrities like Brigitte Bardot offends as well as they influence. Free love is in the air like equality between couple. Women gain the right to abort and have access to contraception. We can explain this sexual liberation by the decline of religion and moral philosophy. Baby-boom generation bring a youth culture.
The hippie subculture was originally a youth movement that began in the United States during the mid-1960s and spread around the world. The word hippie derives from hipster, and was initially used to describe people who created their own communities, listened to psychedelic rock, embraced the sexual revolution, and used drugs such as cannabis and LSD to explore alternative states of consciousness.
On January 1967, the Human Be-In at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco popularized hippie culture, leading to the legendary Summer of Love on the West Coast of the United States, and the 1969 Woodstock Festival on the East Coast. In Mexico, the jipitecas formed La Onda Chicana and gathered at Avándaro, while in New Zealand, nomadic housetruckers practiced alternative lifestyles and promoted sustainable energy at Nambassa. In the United Kingdom, mobile “peace convoys” of New age travellers made summer pilgrimages to free music festivals at Stonehenge. In Australia hippies gathered at Nimbin for the 1973 Aquarius Festival and the annual Cannabis Law Reform Rally or MardiGrass. In Chile, “Festival Piedra Roja” was held in 1970 (following Woodstock’s success), and was the major hippie event in that country.
Hippie fashions and values had a major effect on culture, influencing popular music, television, film, literature, and the arts. Since the 1960s, many aspects of hippie culture have been assimilated by mainstream society. The religious and cultural diversity espoused by the hippies has gained widespread acceptance, and Eastern philosophy and spiritual concepts have reached a wide audience. The hippie legacy can be observed in contemporary culture in myriad forms — from health food, to music festivals, to contemporary sexual mores, and even to the cyberspace revolution.

Come into our PC142 store to smell this wonderful perfume for yourself…

Never too young to be fashionable…

We just had to share this adorable shot with you.

It’s Dean at home trying on his new “Stella McCartney for GAP band jacket”. Perfectly combined with a classic white tee and his “My First Selvedge” jeans from Blue Blood. We think he probably looks even cooler than many of us here in the office.

But hey what else, if your mom is Glamour’s fashion editor Jetteke van Lexmond and your dad “Alex too cool for school Jaspers” International sales director here at Blue Blood.

We say, moms keep your daughters in when lil’ Dean will start riding his bike! ;)

p.s. We think Dean could very well become the next James Dean…

Gewoon

We at Blue Blood love high quality made products with a lot of attention to detail. For example, the way we make our denim is with the same passion as if we were prepaing a home cooked dinner for one of our best friends. When we do so, we use the finest ingredients. We will walk that extra mile to go to the most delicious bakery, the best butcher or that vegetable jeweler. When we come across other companies or people who share our fine taste for excellence we love to give them some well deserved attention on our blog.
“Gewoon “ is the name of a high end luxury caterer. “Gewoon” is the Dutch definition of  ”ordinary”, “usual” and “common”. If this exquisite caterer is anything, it’s anything but common. Last week we drove past this interesting delicacy store window. Unable to stop then, I went to have a look yesterday. Even though it was after closing time the two owners were friendly enough to invite me in.

I immediately noticed the organic B_E_E products that we sell in our Blue Blood stores too. The owner then explained to me that all the delicacies they offer are actually very uncommon and obtained from different places all over the world. He showed me hand made chocolates from Barcelona, explained about the qualities of his imported cheeses and his companion then offered me home made organic pastries and Japanese seaweed crisps. Gewoon caters at large exclusive events. They claim that no demand is too outrageous and they can get you anything you ask for. They will take care of everything, location, hostess girls, fine silver cutlery and tableware, decorations and entertainment.

Gewoon is also a deli where they sell specially imported products and home made food. Each day their menu is changed, everything is 100% organic and made only of the finest quality.

Luxury companies such as Chanel, La Prairie and Cartier are a few of a long list that Gewoon has catered for.

So even though based in Amsterdam they are operating worldwide.  If you are lucky to be enough to be able to visit their store when in Amsterdam we recommend it.

Histoires de Parfums

Histoires de Parfums is a romantic, trendy and high quality French perfume brand. These heavy scented fragrances indulge finely into once skin. Each perfume is dated and has its own inspirational character that tells a unique poetic story. Histoires de Parfums sells erotic men fragrances, temperamental women perfumes and also rich unisex fragrances. Creator Gerald Chislain is an absolute perfectionist and this can clearly be seen in the modern perfume bottling he uses and in the way these perfumes are displayed. He refuses to sell them at the regular fragrance stores as he believes his creations will not receive the attention they deserve to get. Which is true. Luckily, we at Blue Blood will be able to sell these imaginative story telling perfumes at our stores. With a little patience, they will arrive in our stores this month.
